Here are some of mine that you really should check out, if you haven't already!
Y! The Last Man: All men in the world are wiped out by a plague that attacks only the Y gene. But a man, and his male monkey survive. It's unknown why (so far), but this man (Yorick) has to journey with some women who want to help him. There are many people who would want him dead, because they've come to believe that men were the evil in the world, and shouldn't ever be brought back. Such an awesome story....Brian K. Vaughan is insanely talented.
Girls: Created by the Luna Brothers. I'll copy/paste the Wikipedia description, because I can tell that if I keep describing them in my own words, I'll be at this forever! lol. "It tells the story of the people of Pennystown, a community of 63 who are cut off from the rest of the world and attacked by a group of naked, egg-laying women, as well as other bizarre dangers." I always look forward to this one. When these egg-laying bitches keep attacking the women, and the men keep sneaking away to fuck them even though they know it's creating more of these dangerous girls, it really really pisses me off. haha. So when one of the wives goes apeshit with an axe on one of the girls after she walks in on her husband screwin one, it actually makes me go, "SWEET!" out loud. Bitch gets her head chopped off, and the man....well....he loses a very precious body part. :O Sounds awful, but with everything that leads up to that moment...I couldn't help but think he deserved it. haha.
The Escapists: Created by Brian K. Vaughan also! "The fictional title character finds his dad's collection of comics about the Escapist, a comic-book about an escape artist hero from the 30s. and goes out to publish his adventures. More than this he decides to enlist his friend to dress up as the Escapist and make public appearances."
Desolation Jones: Warren Ellis is one of the most talented writers I've come across! So good!!!
"Jones, a former agent of MI6, resides in Los Angeles, which is maintained by the US Government as a veritable prison for ex-agents of numerous intelligence organizations. The ex-agents are under almost no circumstances allowed to leave the city, but within it they are legally invisible. There he makes a living as a private investigator, only doing jobs for other members of/within the intelligence community.
After an apparently long record of drunkenness and misconduct within MI6 ("James Bond never urinated on himself"), in lieu of being discharged he was chosen to participate in the "Desolation Test," and was the sole survivor. Little so far is known about the test, though it has been revealed that it involved Jones being strapped to a hospital bed for a full year, without once being allowed to sleep, being fed food intravenously, and being subjected to other tortures and experiments during that time.
The initial story arc ("Made In England") involves the detective aiding an affluent, elderly collector (Colonel Nigh) in retrieving his most beloved asset after its theft: a series of smut films produced by and featuring the most prominent dictator from the World War II era. Jones is assisted by an assortment of bizarre companions and ex-intelligence agents, including Robina, a woman skilled in creating robotic miniature explosives, and Emily, who as the result of CIA experiments emits constant pheromones that cause almost animalistic fear and revulsion in people around her (save Jones). Many of the plot points in this first arc, including the aging benefactor with two lustful daughters, are clearly in homage to Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep and other detective novels." (Sorry that one was so long)
Neverwhere: I first read the novel, and loved it so much! Then I heard they were coming out with the comic and I was VERY excited! "The plot of Neverwhere centres around Richard Mayhew, an average Londoner who encounters an injured girl named Door on the street one night. Despite his girlfriend's protests he decides to help her, but unfortunately that also means that he suddenly ceases to exist for regular people and becomes real only to the denizens of 'London Below', whose inhabitants are generally also invisible to the people of 'London Above'. He loses his house, his job and nearly his mind as he travels London Below in an attempt to make sense out of it all and help Door survive." I tried watching the British Neverwhere show that was made a long time ago also, but I just couldn't keep watching it. It was a little boring. But READING it...amazing!
